WHO ARE WE? We are a small start-up farm in the Quiet Corner of Connecticut. We bought our little old farmhouse in May 2016 (read our story here) and since then have been turning our property into a working farm.. We primarily raise Heritage Breed animals that have been selected for their slow growth rate, strong mothering abilities, hardiness, and unique appearance. Through spring and summer of 2018 we will be selling Cochin chicks, a variety of ducklings, Jersey Wooly bunnies and more! The animals we have for sale will only be posted on our farm's Facebook page, not on our website, so be sure to "like" our page so you don't miss out!
WHAT ARE WE ALL ABOUT? At Maplewood Farm, everything is grown with love. We pride ourselves in the care our animals receive in terms of food, water, space, attention and affection. Our animals enjoy homegrown produce, fresh air, and lots of snuggles every day. Our fruits and vegetables are fertilized with compost and manure from the farm and we use organic methods of pest control whenever possible.
Our goal is to empower others to produce more of their own food. If you want to learn to garden, come work along side of us and we'll show you. If you want to raise meat rabbits, we'll help you get started and mentor you along the way. If you want to teach your children about hard work and compassion for animals, arrange a time to come volunteer as a family. We are not open to the public but we have a small number of adult and child volunteers and would love to add more!
HOW CAN YOU LEARN MORE? We use each of our online spaces differently. Our website, as you will see if you click around, tells the story of our farm and some of our animals. Because we live almost every moment outdoors from February to November, our website is only updated once a year.
We use our Facebook page primarily for marketing. This is where we post animals that are for sale, services we are offering, and ways we are participating in the community. Click here to connect with us on Facebook. Sending us a Facebook message is the fastest way to get in touch with us.
We use our Instagram page to share pictures of our adorable menagerie and daily farm life. Click here to connect with us on Instagram.
